2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport X: Hybrid Performance Redefined

5

Chevrolet is replacing the Corvette E-Ray with the 2027 Grand Sport X, a new hybrid all-wheel-drive model that boosts power and offers specialized driving modes. The GSX combines a 535-hp 6.7-liter V-8 with a 186-hp electric motor, delivering a total output of 721 horsepower. This move signals Chevrolet’s continued investment in high-performance hybrid technology within the Corvette lineup.

Power and Performance

The Grand Sport X features GM’s latest small-block V-8, the LS6, paired with an electric motor on the front axle to enable all-wheel drive. The electric motor is lifted from the ZR1X and produces 186 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. While peak torque figures haven’t been released, the combined output of 721 hp ensures competitive performance. The GSX also includes standard carbon-ceramic brakes and three exclusive hybrid driving modes: Endurance, Qualifying, and Push-to-Pass, optimized for track use.

Design and Features

Both the Grand Sport and Grand Sport X models adopt the wider body style of the Corvette Z06, complete with signature hash marks now placed on the rear fender. The GSX also offers a “Stealth” mode for limited electric propulsion up to 50 mph, and a “Shuttle” mode capped at 23 mph, designed to minimize noise disturbances.

The interior features a monochromatic Santorini Blue color scheme with red contrast stitching, and exclusive embroidered details on the headrests and floor mats.

Pricing and Availability

Chevrolet has not yet announced the pricing for the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X, but it is expected to exceed the E-Ray’s starting price of $111,095. Production begins this summer at the Bowling Green plant in Kentucky, with dealerships receiving the new models in the second half of 2027.

The Grand Sport X represents Chevrolet’s commitment to blending electric power with traditional Corvette performance. This model offers a compelling option for drivers seeking high-speed hybrid capabilities.
