Bugatti Completes Production of Ultra-Exclusive Bolide Hypercar

Bugatti has finished building the final unit of its track-only Bolide, a hypercar limited to just 40 examples. The completion marks not only the end of this exclusive production run but also one of the last chapters for Bugatti’s iconic 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine.

From Concept to Reality

First unveiled in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bolide began as an audacious concept car that few expected to see in production form. The vehicle was designed to push boundaries, combining extreme performance with a radical aesthetic. Bugatti defied expectations by confirming a limited run of 40 units, all intended for track use only.

The finished production model retains much of the concept’s aggressive spirit, representing the closest thing Bugatti owners can get to a full-fledged Le Mans race car without leaving the showroom.

Performance Figures

The Bolide is powered by the legendary 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine, producing an immense 1,578 horsepower and 1,179 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the car boasts breathtaking acceleration: 0-62 mph in just 2.2 seconds, 0-186 mph in 11.5 seconds, and a top speed of 236 mph.

Its lightweight construction—tipping the scales at just 3,196 lbs—contributes significantly to its performance, making it an exceptionally nimble machine.

Final Unit & Collector’s Commission

The last Bolide was commissioned by a prominent collector who already owns a rare Bugatti Type 35. The car’s exterior features a striking tri-tone paint scheme in Black Blue, Special Blue Lyonnais, and Lake Blue, mirroring the colors of the owner’s Veyron Grand Sport.

Each of the 40 units was hand-assembled at Bugatti’s facility in Molsheim, France, with meticulous attention to detail. All body panels are crafted from lightweight carbon fiber, and Bugatti performed extensive track testing before delivery to ensure optimal performance.

The End of an Era

Bugatti President Christophe Pichon emphasized the company’s commitment to craftsmanship: “We set out to create a car that can perform on the racetrack yet also belongs in the world’s finest collections… owning a Bolide reflects the same level of craftsmanship as every other Bugatti in your collection.”

The Bolide’s completion represents a significant moment for Bugatti, marking the end of production for one of its most extreme vehicles and signaling a transition as the company prepares for new models and powertrains. This car stands as a testament to the brand’s dedication to performance, luxury, and exclusivity.
