Gran Turismo 7 Receives Major Update with Paid DLC and Free Content

Gran Turismo 7 is set to receive one of its most substantial updates to date, arriving in December 2025. The update includes both a paid downloadable content (DLC) pack and a free update, introducing new races, enhanced AI opponents, and additional cars and tracks.

Paid DLC: The Power Pack

The centerpiece of the update is the “Power Pack” DLC, launching on December 4th. This pack will introduce 50 new races, including full-length 24-hour endurance events, significantly expanding the game’s career mode. The update also features the latest iteration of the game’s advanced AI racer, Gran Turismo Sophy 3.0, which is exclusive to DLC purchasers.

Players can expect complete race seasons, complete with practice and qualifying sessions before the main event. Races are categorized into six themes inspired by global car culture and iconic locations, including Europe, Historic Cars, and the legendary Nürburgring.

The DLC also includes 5 million in-game credits, which would otherwise cost over $40 to purchase separately. While Polyphony Digital has yet to announce the DLC’s price, it is expected to be a significant investment due to the inclusion of the upgraded AI and pre-race modes.

Free Spec III Update

Alongside the paid DLC, Gran Turismo 7 will also receive a free Spec III update in December. This update brings two new tracks—Yas Marina Circuit and Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve—along with eight new cars, a revised opening movie, and updated Dunlop tires. The free update continues Polyphony Digital’s commitment to expanding the game’s content roster.

Franchise History and Expansion

Gran Turismo 7 has sold over 100 million copies since its release in 1997. The franchise has evolved over the years, including the release of Gran Turismo Sport in 2017 and a free-to-play version called My First Gran Turismo, designed to attract new players of all ages and skill levels.

Polyphony Digital has consistently delivered updates and downloadable content to Gran Turismo 7 since its release on PlayStation 5. The studio’s ongoing support ensures that the game remains a relevant and engaging experience for its player base.

The combination of the paid Power Pack DLC and the free Spec III update represents one of the most substantial content drops for Gran Turismo 7 to date. Players can expect a significant expansion of the game’s career mode, enhanced AI competition, and additional cars and tracks
