While visually reminiscent of high-performance models like the Golf R, the Commerce Pro S falls short of delivering similar performance, relying instead on cosmetic upgrades and shared components with Ford.
Exterior Styling
The Commerce Pro S distinguishes itself with a body-colored front splitter, rear spoiler, and bumper inserts contrasted by gloss black accents. These include mirror caps, grille details, 17-inch alloy wheels, and bumper trim. The van also features heated, electrically folding side mirrors and illuminated door sills, adding a premium touch to the exterior.
Interior Enhancements
Inside, the Commerce Pro S includes power-adjustable mirrors and a glossy surround for the infotainment screen. The cabin layout and materials are closely aligned with Ford’s design, reflecting the shared architecture between the Transporter and Transit Custom. Despite VW-branded digital interfaces, the underlying tech is sourced from its Ford counterpart.
Performance and Powertrain
The Commerce Pro S is available in panel van and Kombi configurations, powered by a Ford-sourced 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine. Buyers can choose between a 148bhp version with a six-speed manual transmission or a 167bhp variant paired with an eight-speed automatic. Both options are front-wheel drive, with short and long-wheelbase versions available. The engine does not match the performance of a Golf R, which is a 328bhp turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.
Pricing and Availability
The Transporter Commerce Pro S starts at £43,050 (plus VAT) for the base panel van model. The five-seat Kombi version carries a higher price tag of £54,742 (plus VAT). The Commerce Pro S offers a visual upgrade without substantial mechanical enhancements, making it a style-focused option for van drivers who prioritize appearance over outright performance.
