Mugen hit the refreshed Honda Fit with upgrades. Fast. The little hatchback just got a glow-up in Japan. Not enough to call it a Type R, but close enough to get pulses racing.
Bodywork With Bite
Look at the front. There is a red splitter. It screams aggression. The grille goes black for the RS versions. Black graphics creep along the sides, too.
Dry carbon mirrors are an option. Pair them with wind deflectors? Yes. You can. The rear gets some love, though. A black diffuser with a red strip. Chrome tailpipe.
The new pipe isn’t just plastic dressing.
It works. A sports silencer joins the party, giving the exhaust a louder, slightly happier voice.
The Damper Trick
Here is the meat of it. The Performance Damper.
Mugen made it with Yamaha. You might know this tech from the FK8 Civic Type R. It bolts underneath the car. Why? To kill micro-vibrations. To stop the frame from twisting just a fraction during hard driving.
It is a smart borrow. Mugen even sells 17-inch wheels. New wheel nuts, too.
Inside, you get floor mats. Black or red. Your choice. Want more carbon? Stick trim on the door panels. Scuff plates, if you’re feeling flashy.
Honda’s Official Add-Ons
Mugen isn’t the only player. Honda itself offers stuff, too.
Fit RS owners get yellow fog lights. Puddle lamps. Ambient lighting that glows in the footwells and door panels. Metal pedal covers add a touch of class.
What about the hybrid models? The e:HEV X gets a rear bumper lip. A tailgate spoiler. New fog lights. 15-inch alloy wheels.
Even the tall Crosstar variant gets props. Crossbars. Roof boxes. All-season mats. More fog lights.
Is a boxy grocery getter really the target for Type R dampers?
Maybe not. But why not. It rides better now. It looks sharper. The Fit isn’t going to lap Suzuka.
But it won’t apologize for being fun.
