UK pricing for the refreshed Peugeot 408 is out.
Simple structure. Three powertrains, three trims. Entry hybrids start at £31,9995. With a little help from the government’s EV grant, the electric version only costs £700 more — landing you at £32,6995. The plug-in hybrids? They bite deeper. Model-for-model, they’re the priciest, kicking off at £38,4495.
You get the same three trims across the board. Allure. GT. GT Premium. Want the GT badge? That’s another £3,500 on the bill. You get bigger wheels, Matrix LED headlights, Alcantara inside. Go all in on the GT Premium and you unlock heated, massaging electric seats. A 360-degree camera too. And premium audio.
Style changes define the exterior.
The old fang-like DRLs are gone. Sleeker “three-claw” units replace them now. LED strips tie them together, cutting across a new, sculpted grille. Looks a lot like the latest 308.
Peugeot shield in the grille glows now. On top-spec cars, that is. Lit-up lettering on the bootlid joins it. First Peugeot ever with this trick. The whole rear spans a transparent strip, connecting new tail-lights into one unit.
They hid the main headlights though. Sleeker units, tucked lower into the bumper. Glossy black inserts swallow them up. Proximity radar? Hidden behind the badge. Clean lines win again.
Gloss and matte black accents dress up the grille. There’s an exclusive paint called Flare Green. Supposedly changes with the light. Bright yellow in the sun, deep green in the shadows. Magic? Or just chemistry.
Inside, it’s familiar territory.
The cabin is largely the same as current stock. You can save nearly £10,Powering the hybrid is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder. Pairs with a stronger 123bhp motor. Seven-speed auto handles the shifting. Total output? 237bhp. The 14.6kWh电池 gives you 53 miles of EV range. Up from about 40 before.
The E-408 stays pure electric. Same 58.2 kWh usable battery. But better aerodynamics make it more efficient. Range pushes to 283 miles. Just three more than before. Single front motor spins it out. 211bhp, 343Nm. Fast charging goes to 120kW. Ten to 80 percent takes thirty minutes. Roughly.
Not everything gets wrapped in a bow though. Will the price hikes stick? Will Flare Green actually change color or just look yellow on the paint rack?
The choices sit there. Hybrid, Plug-in, Electric. Your money, your compromise.
