Peugeot 208 facelift: subtle changes, clearer LED logo

Body changes are subtle. It is difficult to change a model that has consistently led the European sales charts. The e-208 features a new illuminated logo that has been featured on recent models such as the 508 and the new 2008, and the grille has been redesigned to improve its city car profile. Production of the new Peugeot 208 is scheduled to begin in November 2023.

Hybrid conversion: 48 volt technology and e-DSC6 box

The renewed Peugeot 208 is more than just a new face. It’s all about what’s under the hood, as Peugeot offers two different hybrid powertrains for the first time, redefining the small hatchback segment. We are talking about the models Peugeot e-208 Hybrid 100 and Peugeot e-208 Hybrid 136.

These are not full plug-ins. These are mild hybrids built around the brand’s familiar PureTech combustion engine. The magic happens in the transmission. Peugeot has combined these thermal blocks with a new 48-volt hybrid system that is integrated directly into the e-DSC6 dual-clutch transmission. result? Fuel consumption is said to have dropped by 15 percent. This is a direct attack by Renault in an attempt to take market share from the new and improved Clio V.

If you don’t like hybrids, don’t worry. The traditional PureTech 75 and PureTech 100 thermal-only engines remain. It’s still available for purists who want less complexity and lower maintenance bills.

e-208 Electrical specs: 156 horsepower and true range

The electric version of the Peugeot e-208 is significant power bump. We are considering a 115 kW motor. This corresponds to 156 horsepower. The battery capacity is 51 kWh.

The Autonomy figures are tight. Peugeot claims a range of 381-383 kilometers on a single charge. It’s not a long-distance cruiser, but it’s great for urban running and regional hops.

The real differentiator here is the Charging speed. e-208 supports fast charging up to 100 kW. This means you can go from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes. It’s fast enough to kill your coffee break.

“The new e-DSC6 transmission integrates the 48-volt system and cutting consumption by 15%.”

Why is this important for segment B?

Peugeot e-208 is no longer just an option. This is the core of the lineup. Peugeot covers both the efficiency and performance range by dividing the hybrid options into 100 and 136 horsepower models. The 136 horsepower model appeals to small car those who still want some zip, while the 100 horsepower model is aimed at environmentally conscious commuters.

This electric model’s 100 kW charging capacity puts it in line with competitors like the Volkswagen ID.3 and Tesla Model 3 (albeit at a much lower price point). A range of more than 380 kilometers is competitive, especially in real-world conditions where aerodynamics and weight play an important role.

The Verdict on Powertrain Choices

You now have four distinct paths.

  • PureThermal 75: Entry level, no hybrid tech, lowest initial cost.
  • PureThermal 100: More power, still purely gas.
  • Hybrid 100: Mild hybrid, 48V, e
