The Luce made some people squirm. All-electric Ferrari? It’s going to be messy. But don’t panic if you prefer your supercars with a throaty combustion soundtrack. They aren’t going away. Not even close.
Just before the EV revealed itself, Ferrari buried 10 new names in trademark filings. Most of them involve gas. A lot of gas.
The 12Cilindri expands
Three of these marks build on the new V12 grand tourer. Right now you get a Coupe and a Spider. Both have 819bhp and a redline that climbs to 9,500rpm. Now add the 12Cilindri GTP and MM.
GTO.
It is probably the most loaded acronym in the brand’s history. Used only three times before—250, 288, 599 —it signals focus. If the base model is already fast, the GTO will be razor-sharp. Chassis tweaks. Engine magic. The usual.
MM nods to history, too. Short for Mille Miglia, it appeared on the 250 and 375 back when 1,000 miles was a Tuesday commute for drivers who didn’t care about seatbelts. And there is Aperta. A roofless version distinct from the existing Spider. Why? Maybe for the sound.
History isn’t dead; it just changes tires.
F80 gets variants
Then there is the F80. The hybrid flagship with 1,183bhp. Four trademarks appeared here. Two seem track-focused: FXX80 and 80XX. Likely one single-spec track toy. The successor to the LaFerrari FXX-K? Probably.
The other two? F80 Targa and F80 Roadster.
Think about that. An open-top hybrid supercar. You get to hear that 3.0-liter V6 howl. Ferrari calls it the “baby V12.” With no roof in the way, the sound is clearer. More visceral.
296 gets harder
The 296 wasn’t forgotten. A 296 CS is in the pipes. CS usually means Challenge Stradale. That implies a road version of the 296 Challenge racer. What does that mean? Drop the hybrid system. Let the twin-turbo V6 breathe on its own. 690bhp going to the rear wheels. Simple. Brutal.
There is also a Challenge Evo.
Like the 488, it suggests a hotter, updated race spec. Maybe. Or maybe it is just Ferrari poking us. Reminding us that while the future is electric, the present still burns octane.
Will you buy the roadster? Probably. 🏎️
